PART 8 : March 30, 2008

"I got a letter from the IRS about that economic stimulus that congress signed into law. It seems that it is somehow linked to your income tax return. Unfortunately, because of the SSA's delaying of my application, I have made $0 income over the last three years, and therefore I [have not filed] a tax return and will not be eligible for the refund. Seriously. Check that letter that they sent out. It went to everyone in the US in February. Because of the SSA dragging their feet, I will not get the tax refund signed into law by my government. Thanks a lot."

So, I wrote to the head of the SSA about my experience...

"Mr. Astrue,
[...] Here is a short (but by no means comprehensive) list of my dealings with your organization:
  • I have waited almost three years for the SSA to approve my disability application, although I have definite, undeniable PROOF of my multiple sclerosis.
  • I have been treated rudely by EVERY employee of the SSA that I have been in contact with.
  • Because of the SSA's ineptness, I have had to live off of $0 income since I applied (as I stated) THREE YEARS ago.
  • I am not receiving money that I should be receiving from investments, interest and other sources.
Now, as I understand it, I am not going to receive anything from the income stimulus package that was signed into law and is going to be disbursed this year. To get a payment, you must make a minimum income (which I don't, thanks to the SSA) and you have to file a 2007 income tax return (which I won't, since I have no income to claim for that year).

So, I can now add the economic stimulus payment to the PILE of money that I am ENTITLED TO and have not received because of the Social Security Administration.

Why do I continue to be ignored? Give me ONE good excuse for all of the nonsense that I have had to endure. Just one. I expect to be fully reimbursed for everything that I mentioned above, receive apologies from everyone that I mention in the attached letter, and I expect to hear that certain people lose their jobs for creating and perpetuating this situation."
