PART 6 : January 2008

"This is going to be an angry rant. The all of my other correspondence has been very measured and respectful. I've tried to be nice. I've tried to be courteous. I'm even tempering my language in this letter - it only touches the surface of my frustration. I've done my best to discuss my concerns as a rational human being. All that has gotten me is the following:
  • This piece of garbage seems to be YET ANOTHER letter stating what I have heard so often over the last few years. You guys at the SSA are always deflecting everything, and not accepting an ounce of responsibility for anything.
  • I KNOW that the definition of disability is "strictly defined" - that's fine, it should be. But how is it that a person that has to use a cane or a wheelchair to get around, has been confined to his apartment for over two years, and has letters from his doctors supporting claims of disability (mfa support letter 1, mfa support letter 2) NOT meet that definition? Please tell me.
  • I HAVE MRI's (mri scan, mri report). I HAVE LETTERS FROM DOCTORS (mfa support letter 1, mfa support letter 2). I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO WORK AT ALL FOR THE LAST 2 1/2 YEARS, AND ONLY PART-TIME MONTHS BEFORE THAT. What more do you need?
  • People are actually congratulating me for getting the approval that I DESERVED 3 years ago. That's like someone congratulating a grown man for successfully making himself a sandwich. I think that the intention is to commend me on putting up with this crap for so long and persevering. What does that say about this process?
  • After dealing with this garbage for 3 years, now I need to deal with a WAITING PERIOD?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?
  • I am over $40,000 in debt because of the awful handling of my disability application. I'm tired of being blown off or given the same sort of nonsense that is in that letter that you sent in response to my complaints. I think you OWE it to me to actually address me.
  • After I wrote this letter, I received the decision. And it is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. It is full of untrue statements, half truths and misrepresentations.
  • You CAN'T help me or you WON'T?
What is this sense of empowerment that you people have? You flaunt your supposed power over people who need HELP. Try to have a little bit of compassion. Tell me honestly that ANYONE deserves to be treated the way I have, especially some one that has more problems than you will ever have.

If there are ANY flaws in anything that I have been complaining about for the last few years, please point them out. Address them head on. Otherwise, I will assume that you agree.

And DO YOUR JOB."
