PART 12 : July 7, 2008
I was diagnosed with MS in 2003. After working for another two years, the MS got so bad that I had to stop. I applied for SSA disability in 2005, and I was FINALLY approved last week. Someone please tell me why ANYONE should be put through that. I am now trying to get my life back in order. I am $60,000 in debt, my relationships with family and friends are strained. And the bad thing is, I got off easy. As much as I am in debt, I had a home equity loan to get me through the last three years. Some people are so distraught that they commit suicide. Look it up. There was an article in the NY Times about it
(Disability Cases Last Longer as Backlog Rises: December 10, 2007).
The fact that people are put through this garbage is pathetic. And it is all because of a flawed system. Change the SSA so that no one goes through this anymore.
