PART 11 : June 2008
I applied for Social Security Disability benefits in late July of 2005.
I have multiple sclerosis, and I have proof of my illness (in the form of MRIs and support from my doctors:
(first diagnosis,
mfa support letter 1,
mfa support letter 2,
mri scan,
mri report). None of that information was ever asked for, but, for some reason, I was denied. I have been treated rudely, transferred between numerous unhelpful people, and given the run around throughout this entire process. I appealed the initial denial, and my lawyer, Judith M. of M&M, PC, has done a horrible (and I think unethical) job pursuing what seems to me to be a simple, straight-forward case.
Just recently I was given a "favorable decision" that completely ignores the first year of my disability (read Parts 8 and 9 how horribly that was handled). In June of 2008 (almost 3 years to the day after my initial application), I received the lump sum for the back payments from the SSA, and it is about 2/3 of what Mrs. M. told me I should receive (see the email in Part 8), and a fraction of what I should have received had the application gone through the first time (see Part 6).
So, I'm asking for help. What should I do now? It seems to me that no one is doing their job, and I am being shuffled around and ignored by everyone involved, even those who are supposed to be looking out for my best interests (M&M, PC). It seems that it is typical of the SSA to deny people who apply for Disability benefits, and unfortunately I have accrued over $40,000 in debt waiting for my application to go through.
I guess that I need to appeal this decision and go through all of this again.
I didn't put up with this for so long to not get what I deserve. Please help me.
